Fics What I Have Wrote This Year (links go to AO3 because I’m lazy. They’re all still available where they were originally posted too, of course.)
When Words Aren’t Warm Enough - Shadow of the Templar - Nate/Johnny - NC-17. Yuletide Treat for wildestranger
Make a Home, Invite You In - Tanya Huff’s Smoke Books - Lee/Tony - R. Yuletide fic for key_sama
Wuthering Heights and Stormy Nights - MCR - girl!Brian/Bob - NC-17. Bandom Big Bang 2009 fic.
Live Tonight Like It’s Our First - Merlin - Merlin/Arthur - NC-17. PWP.
Hard to Believe in Sundays - PATD - Ryan/Jon - NC-17. Truckstops and Statelines fic.
Kiss Me First - Merlin - Merlin/Will - PG-13. Pre-canon.
Fall Off The Earth - Merlin - Merlin/Arthur - NC-17. Huddling for warmth.
I haven’t written as many fics as I have in previous years. Partly that was due to Big Bang taking up months of my time, partly it was due to Panic splitting and finding myself unable to really settle in any fandom for a long while after that. I still wouldn’t say I have *a* fandom, but I am producing fic again so that’s what really matters the most to me.
Also, I’ve written 85,336 words this year, which I’m proud of and is definitely better than the year before.
favorite story this year (of my own): Wuthering Heights no question. Having written that one feels like an achievement because it was so far out of my comfort zone and I’m so pleased I managed it.
most popular story this year, in my opinion: Probably Fall Off The Earth? Wuthering Heights got more comments but for some reason people seem to have really taken to Fall Off The Earth, which is amusing because it’s essentially huddling-for-warmth plus porn.
most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: aha, no way. The fact that people read and like and comment on my fics is basically my favourite thing in the world. If one fic doesn't get quite as many comments as I'd hoped, it seems to be that the next one more than makes up for it, so.
most fun story: to write? probably Make a Home, Invite You In - mostly because I’ve been wanting to write a Lee/Tony story all year and, right at the end of the year, I finally managed it. You know how you have characters in your head to tell yourself stories about as you’re falling asleep? Lee and Tony have been mine since last Yuletide.
sexiest story: I like the sex scenes in Hard to Believe In Sundays, but I wouldn’t say it was a sexystory. (Even my PWPs don’t seem that sexy to me though, so.)
"holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I... don't really write those. Maybe I should start.
story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Hard to Believe in Sundays - it's the first and only fic I've written from Ryan's POV and I was surprised to find the inside of his head a lot more fun than I was expecting.
hardest story to write: Wuthering Heights - no question. I had no idea what I was doing when I started, I just wanted to write about Bob holding a baby. Then harborshore and I exchanged approx. one billion emails about our respective Big Bangs and I realised that I was going to have to try to make it bigger than that and hopefully not fuck it up.
biggest disappointment: I wish I’d written more. I’ve had a lot of stories outlined throughout the year but the attention span of a gnat when it comes to actually getting them written.
biggest surprise: Finally getting Hard to Believe in Sundays off my harddrive and posted - I’d been sitting on that fic *forever*.
most telling story: Wuthering Heights - I'm not sure it's possible to write a 30,000 word story about a girl who wants to be successful and fights to be respected and still manages not to give up on love and not have it be a little telling.
ambitions for next year: So far to write a lot of Merlin. I have a modern day Buckingham Palace AU to finish, a future fic Slave Trader AU to start, and a Bradley/Colin fic to finish. There are also two Die Hard 4 fics that I hope I’ll be able finish, and a White Collar threesome that I’ve plotted but not written. If I sign up for Bandom Big Bang again, it will probably be with the Bob/Brian college AU that I’ve been meaning to write for about a year now. Oh and Yuletide, I love doing Yuletide.
